Our President & CEO Turgut Erkeskin Becomes New FIATA President
FIATA General Meeting 2023 was held on September 6 in Brussels, Belgium where FIATA delegates elected the new Presidential and Extended Board. GENEL TRANSPORT President & CEO Turgut Erkeskin ran unopposed for the Presidency position and has been elected the new President of FIATA.
The International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) held its Annual General Meeting 2023 today in Brussels, Belgium. FIATA members from all around the world attended the General Meeting that took place on the first day of the FIATA World Congress, one of the largest and most important organizations for the global logistics industry.
Turgut Erkeskin, President & CEO of GENEL TRANSPORT and Former President of UTIKAD – the Association of International Forwarding and Logistics Service Providers in Türkiye – has become the new President of FIATA for the next two years.
In his acceptance speech, Erkeskin thanked his predecessor Mr. Ivan Petrov for their services and contributions to FIATA and expressed his appreciation to the Congress.
“I am deeply honored to be elected FIATA President. Thank you for your confidence and trust in me. I’m excited about the possibility of contributing to our organization’s legacy of excellence as the next President” he noted and pledged to empower FIATA and the logistics industry through collaboration: “Our global presence has great potential to shape the logistics industry’s future. Together, we can harness our collective expertise, resources, and networks to create a more efficient, sustainable, and interconnected global logistics network.”
Turgut Erkeskin first joined FIATA in 2010 as a member of the Maritime Working Group. He was elected to the Executive Board as Vice President in 2013 and was appointed as FIATA Europe Region President in 2015. In October 2017, he was elected to the FIATA Presidential and he has been serving as Senior Vice President since then.
